Colin Doyle started working at SPK and Associates as a systems process architect in April 2013. Before joining SPK, Colin worked as a systems engineer in aerospace for 12 years. He then worked for a few different medical device companies, various software companies, and was the senior product manager at a technology solution company. His main responsibilities at SPK are helping customers decide on a solution and implementing that solution utilizing the appropriate application lifecycle management tool. He commonly works with Windchill RV&S, Codebeamer, and Jira

My Role at SPK

As a systems process architect, my day-to-day responsibilities vary. When my days are not filled with customer meetings where I discover challenges, I implement solutions for customers. This implementation ranges from configuring tools to creating training materials for onboarding.

What Motivates Me

What drives the passion for my craft? I like solving problems for clients. What keeps me motivated and engaged is when someone’s got an interesting challenge. I enjoy identifying solutions that drive efficiency and collaboration. I also like being able to leverage what I’ve done in the past. Bringing that kind of insight and experience to new engagements is very important.

SPK not only understands tools, but we understand clients. In most cases, I can say, “I know customers like you, and I’ve worked with them on challenges similar to yours.”

Career Advice

My advice to others in this field of work is to always look for opportunities to learn, even when something seems very straightforward. That’s the fun of the job. I’ve been working in this industry for 40 years, and I’m still learning.

The best piece of career advice I’ve received is to choose to do something you love. I have worn different hats in the past but find that I prefer technical work to managing. I find more joy in working with clients and implementing solutions directly than in managing a team. I enjoy helping customers achieve their business goals.

Extracurriculars

When I am not at work, I enjoy golfing, cycling, and archery. My son and I have been doing archery for about ten years now. I also like reading science fiction novels in my free time.

Looking To The Future

Colin Doyle’s expertise has continually surpassed our clients’ expectations, making him an invaluable asset to the SPK team.  With his extensive background in process modeling and profound understanding of application lifecycle management tools like Windchill RV&S and Codebeamer, Colin offers deep insights that empower our clients to stay competitive.  His strategic approaches not only enhance quality and ensure compliance but also accelerate product market readiness.  As we move forward, Colin will be taking the lead on some of our most demanding projects, where his skills will be crucial in driving significant value and innovating solutions tailored to complex challenges.
