When using Jira Cloud, it can be helpful to have an app that monitors how much time employees spend on projects. These are called time-tracking apps and they often offer reporting capabilities that ensure better project management and resource allocation.  Two of the most prominent time-tracking apps for Jira are Tempo Timesheets and Everit’s Timetracker. Let’s explore the differences between the two.

Tempo Timesheets

Tempo Timesheets is known for its feature-rich environment that supports more complex time-tracking abilities. Its interface and capabilities make it a great choice for enterprise-level businesses. Timesheets offers seamless integration with other business systems such as financial tools, allowing large teams to easily track and report financial data. Its advanced reporting capabilities allow managers to analyze billable hours, productivity, and resource allocation. Additionally, Timesheets integrates with calendars and BI tools to offer even better trackability.

Furthermore, Timesheets is part of a strategic portfolio suite that includes Tempo Planner and Tempo Cost Tracker. These tools allow businesses to manage all aspects of their projects from one place. Timesheets is also flexible, offering permission settings to grant or deny project access. Moreover, its third-party integration capabilities allow it to easily scale with your business. As far as pricing goes, Timesheets is more costly than Timetracker, however, its robust capabilities may be more of a priority for your business.

Timetracker

Timetracker by Everit is another great time-tracker for Jira. As opposed to Timesheets, Timetracker focuses more on delivering an intuitive, lightweight solution that simplifies time tracking. Its core strength lies in its user-friendly design, making it easy for team members to quickly log their hours without any complex configurations.

Despite its simplicity, Timetracker offers the most comprehensive feature set in its price range. Timetracker offers detailed reports, custom work logs, and the ability to track time per issue or project. In addition to this, it offers API connections for integrations including BI and Calendar tools. Its interface is also highly customizable, offering custom tags and permission controls. Although it does not include cost-tracking at this time, Timetracker can save your business money by being an affordable time-tracking solution. For small and medium-sized businesses focused on day-to-day task tracking within Jira without needing extensive approval processes, Timetracker is an excellent fit.

Other Popular Time-Tracking Solutions

Timesheets and Timetracker are two of the most popular solutions for Jira, but there are a few others on the market. Clockwork Automated Time Tracking is user-friendly and automates much of the process. However, Timetracker is a more affordable user-friendly option. WorklogPRO offers more advanced time-tracking features but focuses on Jira’s native features rather than offering third-party integrations. ActivityTimeline focuses heavily on resource planning, making it more of a project management tool than a time-tracking solution. Lastly, TogglTrack is a simple and flexible solution but both Timetracker and Timesheets offer more advanced capabilities.

Which Time-Tracking Solution is Best for Your Business?

When it comes to choosing a time-tracking solution, we recommend Timesheets and Timetracker for different situations. Timetracker’s minimalist design makes it easy to adopt, whereas Timesheets requires more onboarding.  However, Timesheets offers more robust capabilities such as advanced reporting and integrations.  Our experts recommend Timesheets for larger businesses with cross-functional teams, needing more complex capabilities. Timetracker is best suited for small to medium-sized businesses who want to save time on training and don’t want to break the bank.
