How to Migrate a Site using MODX Content Management System

When copying a site from one host to another, you may want to change user, password, database, directory structure or URL — and when deploying website, you may occasionally run into a new content manager that you need to understand enough to move the site to a new URL and host.

I recently migrated a MODX content manager site across servers. MODX is good in many ways but there’s a number of areas to change if you need a new service name, database or URL.

To share my experiences, I put together this document on successfully migrating a MODX content management system. Feel free to leave your comments and your own experiences below.
